“Where you descend into the mine, a number of young workers were pushing the raw ore masses in wheelbarrows into a depression dug for this purpose; we were given a guide, he lit his miner's light, opened a large door and - my heart sank - we entered.” This is how Hans-Christian Andersen described his visit to Rammelsberg in 1831.
On this guided tour, you will experience the mine through the eyes of 18th and 19th century travelers. In the Roeder gallery, you will listen to further quotes and learn how mining tourists perceived the mines at the time. Take a walk through the forest and relax in idyllic surroundings with the sound of gurgling water. Stories and legends about the Rammelsberg enchant the evening.
