The Rammelsberg was a very important mine in Europe.
It was the mine that was in operation the longest - worldwide.
The mine made the town rich.
That is why emperors and kings often came to Goslar.
Today, the Rammelsberg is a museum.

Mining ended in 1988.
The mine is now a museum.
The site is very large.
Exhibitions are set up in several buildings.
The exhibitions show how the miners lived and worked.

Popular underground tours are
1. the Roeder gallery - on the path of the water through the mountain
- The Roeder gallery is so named because of its builder Johann Christoph Roeder.
- It is a 200-year-old system of water pipes and water wheels.
- This system ensured that mining was possible at Rammelsberg for almost 100 years.
- The machines were used to extract the ore and pump the water out of the mine.
- This guided tour takes you underground.
- It is always around 10 degrees in the Roeder gallery.
- Sturdy shoes are required.
- Minimum age: 4 years.
2. on site with the mine railway - off to the start of the shift
- This tour is particularly popular with children.
- You travel into the mountain on a real mine railway.
- You will learn how mining was carried out in more recent times and see old mining machines that were used by miners 50 years ago.
- These tours take place several times a day.
- During the holidays, we recommend booking an appointment in advance.
- It is always around 10 degrees underground.
- Sturdy shoes are necessary.
- Minimum age: 4 years.
- This tour is also suitable for people in wheelchairs.

Prices, Opening Times
From April to October, the Rammelsberg is open from 9 am to 6 pm and from November to March from 9 am to 5 pm.
The Rammelsberg is only closed on 24 December and 31 December.
