The Roeder gallery, named after mine official Johann Christoph Roeder, is a 200 year old system of “power lines“ and machines. For more than 100 years, mining was only possible at the Rammelsberg because of this system. Follow the underground path of the water, pass by enormous waterwheels and discover the hidden colours of the mountain!

Tours are offered on a daily basis (main season: 10 am to 4 pm, on the hour; off season: 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm).

For tours in German, a reservation is not required. During holidays, you may still reserve a tour to avoid delays (limited participants per tour). For tours in English or other foreign languages, please book in advance!

Please note: the temperature below ground is constantly 12°C ( 54 °F) and it is moist, so sturdy shoes are advised! Children under the age of 4 cannot participate in underground tours.

1 1/4 hours

This tour is not wheelchair accesible and not suitable for people with impaired mobility (many steep staircases).
